SHAFER, Victoria A.of Horseheads, NY passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, April 26, 2017 at the age of 79. Victoria was born on February 20, 1938 in Elmira, NY. She was predeceased by her parents, Nicholas and Mary Tacka DeLauro Fadale; step father, Louis Fadale; brother, Nicholas DeLauro and daughter-in-law, Michelle Shafer. Victoria is survived by her loving children, Gordon, Karen, and Ryan Shafer all of Horseheads, NY; granddaughter, Skylar Pye; sister, Ann Sherwood of Oswego, NY; best friend Teresa Fitzpatrick; her four legged feline companions; her loving dog, Brandy; and several extended family members. Victoria was blessed with working for several years at the Lovely Shop in Elmira and worked alongside her former husband, Arthur Shafer at Paramount Lanes for many years. She also worked at Kaufmann's and later Macy's in ladies shoes. She will be lovingly remembered for her chocolate chip cookies, potato salad and homemade pasta sauce. Victoria was well known for her unbelievable Christmas Trees and her Christmas Eve Parties. She was very proud of obtaining her very own drivers license on July 28, 2001. She was a devoted Yankee and Steeler fan. Victoria was an excellent cook, gardener and an accomplished bowler. She is already missed by all that knew and loved her. Family and friends will be received at Sullivan's Funeral Home, 365 E. Franklin St. at Rt. 13, Horseheads, NY on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 between the hours of 4-7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick's Church, Elmira, NY on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 11AM with Rev. Richard Farrell presiding. In lieu of flowers those wishing to remember Victoria please consider memorial to the Horseheads Community Animal Shelter, 150 Wygant Rd, Horseheads, NY 14845 or the Chemung County SPCA, 2435 St. RT. 352, Elmira, NY 14903 in her memory.
