VESTER NELSON
FRANKLIN, W.Va. — Vester Ray "Buster" Nelson, age 81, passed away peacefully at his home after a long battle with Alzheimer's, surrounded by his loving family on Monday, October 31, 2016 at his residence. He was born on September 2, 1935 in Mud Fork (Logan County), WV, the son of the late Rev. Lonnie and Gracie (Mayberry) Nelson. Buster married Frances (Hanna) Nelson, who preceded him in death on August 16, 1992.
Buster attended Barnabus Grade School and he had worked for Ranger Fuel Coal Corporation for 22 years. He had also worked for WV DOH in Logan County for 15 years, Frazier Quarry and Virginia Poultry Growers Co-Op in Hinton, VA as a Poultry Producer. Buster was a member of the UMW Local #1391.
Buster is survived by: 4 daughters, Christina (Gary) Domi of Russell Point, OH, Charlene (Kenny) Tolliver of Ravencliff, WV, Catherine Lafferty and David Polk of McGraw, WV, Lisa (Jeffrey) Jones of Franklin; a sister, Shirley (Jay) Abernathy of Jeffreys, WV; 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and his companion of many years, Nora Riggleman of Franklin.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Nelson was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Michael Lafferty; a grandson, Bobby Tilley; 3 brothers, Clyde, David and James; and 3 sisters, Pauline Fulton, Helena Jenkins, and Wanda Jeffreys.
Mr. Nelson's family will receive friends on Sunday, November 6, 2016, 5-7 p.m. at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin, WV. A graveside service will be on Monday, Nov. 7, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the Highland Memory Gardens in Pecks Mills, WV with Rev. Ernest Francis III officiating.
