LEHIGH ACRES, FL -- Vernon "Ted" Fox, Jr. (87) was called home to the Lord on November 12, 2016, following complications from a fractured hip and advanced Alzheimer's. Ted is survived by his three children, T. Dean Fox, Timonium, MD, Cathy Fox, Fort Myers, FL and Steve Fox, wife Debi and granddaughter, Jordan, Hagerstown, MD. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 49 years, Katy Fox, his parents, Bud and Karen Fox and his siblings, Sue Jones and Harry Fox. Ted was born on December 12, 1928 in Washington, DC, attended Greenbelt High School, where he was a standout athlete, graduated from the University of Maryland, and later earned his Master's Degree from Bowie State University. He and Katy married on April 5, 1958 and chose to start their family four years later. Over his 38-year career in education, Ted taught drivers education, physical education, and coached in Prince George's and Montgomery Counties (Maryland). Ted spent the majority of his teaching years at Springbrook High School, from which he retired in 1988. On Friday, November 18, 2016, a visitation, 9:30 to 11 a.m., immediately followed by the funeral service, 11 a.m., will be held at DeVol Funeral Home, 10 East Deer Park Drive, Gaithersburg, MD 20877. Interment at Parklawn Memorial Park, Rockville, MD, immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Vernon T.
