LAURINBURG — Tommy Hatcher, 56, passed away on Aug. 17, 2015 after an extended illness.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday at Multitudes Church. As per Tommy's request, anyone attending is asked to wear their favorite sports themed shirt, whether it be high school athletics, college sports, NASCAR, etc.
He is survived by his son Chris Hatcher of Rockingham, his stepson Trey Goodwin of Rockingham, his father Tom Hatcher, Jr. of Laurinburg, his brothers Freddie Hatcher of Laurel Hill and Bozzie Hatcher of Connecticut, his aunt Edith Evans of Laurinburg, his close cousin Robin Chapman of Laurinburg, his nieces Samantha Oxendine and Jessica Hatcher, and his nephews Adam and Michael Hatcher and Brian Wallace.
Tommy was born on Oct.31, 1958 in Laurinburg and was also a son of the late Loretta Evans Hatcher. He was proud of his service with the U.S. Navy, and afterwards had many years of services as a paramedic for the Scotland County Emergency Medical Services, and as a firefighter and later volunteer firefighter for the Laurinburg Fire Department.
Tommy loved history, music from his generation, the UNC Tar Heels and the Scotland High School Fighting Scots. He was most appreciated for his talented photography at SHS athletic events, especially during football season. He always met anyone with a smile on his face.
Memorials are requested for Scotland High School Athletics, 1000 W. Church St., Laurinburg, NC 28352.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday at McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
