LA MONTE — Mr. Tommie F. Klein died peacefully at his daughter's home in La Monte on Monday, November 21, 2016, at the age of 90.

Mr. Klein is survived by his three children, Elva Mae Smith (Kenneth), of La Monte, Tommie "Bud" Klein (Loretta) and Andy Klein (Diane), both of Sedalia; as well as a brother, Claude Klein (Arlene) of Hale, MO and a sister, Nell Monsees of Lee's Summit, MO. Also surviving are two step-sons and a step-daughter, six grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. There are also numerous step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry A. and Elva Belle Phillips Klein; brothers, Arthur Lee Klein, Norman Klein, and Clyde Klein; a sister, Maggie DeHaven; first wife, Marion Guiles Klein and also wife, Margaret Quigley Klein.

Tommie Klein was born on August 18, 1926, in Otterville, MO, to Harry A. Klein and Elva Belle Phillips Klein. For forty-two years, Tommie was a very successful farmer in the Pettis County area. After retiring from farming in 1984, Tommie very happily drove a bus for OATS transportation as well as spending twelve years as a familiar door-greeter and handy person at WalMart of Sedalia. In 2010, Tommie retired from formal employment and continued to garden and grow beautiful flowers and plants in his large landscaped yard and greet people while shopping and exercising at WalMart.

Tommie was an active member of the Sedalia Jolly Elders club and loved to travel with the group as often as he could. He was also a well respected member of the Sedalia First Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 23, at Heckart Funeral Home, with Pastor Ted Francis officiating. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Tommie's life.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Heckart Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations in care of the Sarah Cannon Cancer Center at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
