Thomas Raphael Jr.ONTARIO: Thomas Raphael Jr., 86, of Ontario passed away Thursday, April 13, 2017 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. Tom was born on October 7, 1930 in Blairsville, PA to the late Thomas Sr. and Rosella (Blassmeyer) Raphael. Tom was a young child when his family moved to Mansfield. He was a graduate of St. Peter's High School, then went on to join the Navy where he served for a little over four years. He worked for General Motors Corporation for over thirty years in the press office. He also worked for Sutter's Taffy starting at the age of fifteen and throughout his young adult life, traveling to fairs and events with them. In his spare time, he enjoyed renovating and reselling homes, as he was a man that could fix or build anything. Tom was a collector of brass items, model cars, tools, enjoyed watching westerns and old movies, and had a love for McDonald's coffee like no other.He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jo-Ann (Northrup) Raphael; two daughters, Melinda A. Krizan and Charlotte L. Raphael; a son, Alan R. Raphael; five grandchildren, Richard E. III (Adrienne) Krizan, Megan L. Sweet, Nicholas Raphael, Erin M.Young, Chelsea M. Lyman (Ryan Mault); six great grandchildren, Layla, Ben, Abigail, Jayden, Amy and Maleah; his siblings, Florentine M. Dearman, and Larry D. Raphael; a brother-in-law, John Northrup; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kari Raphael, and a brother-in-law, Jack L. Dearman.The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Monday, April 17, 2017 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd. The funeral service will be officiated by Rector Emeritus David S. Sipes at 6:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 711 E.
