Thomas Peter HyerAGE: 68 • HazletThomas Peter Hyer, 68, presently of Benton, PA, formerly of Hazlet, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA. Thomas was born on January 12, 1949 in Long Branch and grew up in Holmdel, where he also raised is daughter, Katherine. Later in life, he settled in Hazlet. Thomas began his career as a custodian for St. John Vianney High School, working side by side with his late father, Harvey William Hyer. After dedicating many years to St. John Vianney, he later began working for the Marlboro Board of Education from which he was currently retired. Thomas was also extremely devoted to his second career, Hazlet Fire Company No. 1, and over the span of his career he held various titles with them, as well as with the Monmouth County Firemen's Association. He was predeceased by his parents, Mae (Higgins) and Harvey William Hyer. Thomas is survived by his loving daughter, Katherine Kinsey and her husband, Shane, of Benton, PA, his dear brother, Harvey Daniel Hyer and his wife, Barbara, and his cherished grandchildren, Morgan, Joshua, Thomas, and Gabriella Kinsey. He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.Family and friend are invited to visit on Sunday, February 5th from 12 to 4 PM and Monday, February 6th from 9 to 9:45 AM at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Hwy/Rt 35 N, Hazlet.
