BYHALIA, MS - Thomas Lee Short, age 65, passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at his home. Tom was born on December 25, 1946 to Marvin and Rose (nee: Seibel) Short. He served in the United States Navy in the 1960's. Tom was a mechanic by trade but also enjoyed model railroading, hunting, fishing, motorcycling and telling stories. Survivors include his daughter, Maria Clark of CT, mother, Rose Hovgaard of Racine, father, Marvin (Betty Jean) Short of TN, siblings, Gloria Jean (Richard) Oertel of Sturgeon Bay, Marvin James (Sherry) Short of TN, Ruth Short of Racine, Rhonda (Curtis) McKinzie of TN, Steven (Debbie) Short of TN, Lee Ann (Tom) Kristiansen of Racine, Kay (Johnie) Crawford of Racine, Timothy Short of TN and by his Aunt Ruth Larsen of New Holstein. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Tom was preceded in death by his step-father, Alvin Hovgaard and his sister, Victoria Short. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 6:00 PM at Polnasek-Daniels Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Oertel officiating. A private interment will take place at a later date. Relatives and friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:30 PM until the time of service. Memorials to the Wounded Warrior Project have been suggested.
