THOMAS "TOM" KALE

HARRISBURG — Thomas "Tom" Lawson Kale died peacefully at The Foley Center, on Nov. 4, 2017. in Blowing Rock, N.C., at the age of 91.

Tom is survived by his wife of 35 years Judy May Kale; his five daughters and their spouses, Trudy Kale Compton and husband Tommy Compton of Mebane, N.C., Theresa Lynn Kale and husband Steve McDow of Hillsborough, N.C., Tina Kale Cates of Efland, N.C., Tracey Kale Harrill of Durham, N.C., and Taren Kale Basnight of Durham, N.C.; three stepchildren and their spouses, Michael Wayne Allen and his wife Debbie Allen of Hope Mills, N.C., James Timothy Allen and his wife Kay Allen of Lumberton, N.C., and Donna Allen Hunsinger and her husband Scott Hunsinger of Boone, N.C.; eight grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Emma Kale; his brothers, Russell and Richard Kale; and his, sister Frances Turner.

Thomas Lawson Kale was born on March 22, 1926, in Troutman, N.C. He graduated from Staunton Military Academy in Staunton, Va. Tom served in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Hornet during WWII. He was the owner and president of Lawson Development Company of Harrisburg, N.C.

A funeral service was held on Tuesday, Nov. 7, at 2 p.m. at Walker's Funeral Home, 204 N. Churton St., Hillsborough, N.C. Dr. Edward Eugene Hunsinger officiated. Burial followed in Oakwood Cemetery in Mebane, N.C. The family would like to thank The Foley Center in Blowing Rock, N.C. and Hospice of Caldwell County staff and caregivers for the wonderful care they provided to Tom while he was in their care.
