Wolff, Thelma Geyer Thelma Geyer Wolff passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2017, 2 days after her 94th birthday. She was born on June 2, 1923 on a farm in Wabasha County, Minnesota to Francis H. Geyer and Flora Mae Holton. She graduated from Elgin, MN high school in 1940. She then graduated from St. Charles (MN) teacher's training school and taught rural school until she joined the Navy as a Wave, and served from 1944 to 1946. She graduated from Rutger's University in New Brunswick, NJ in 1951 with a B.S. degree in education. In 1952, she married Eugene Edwin Wolff, who served in the Navy as a Lieutenant J.G. After the war, he joined Union Carbide Corporation in New York City, international division. They lived in Mexico City for many years and Athens, Greece many years. Returning to the States in 1968, they made their home in Bronxville, NY, where Thelma became a Vice President with Houlihan Lawrence. They retired in 1989 to Fountain Hills, AZ. Thelma was preceded in death by her husband in 2010. Her sisters, Frances Hoffman, Vera (Vernon) Reiter, Mary Whelan, and brother Jim Geyer also preceded her in death. She is survived by her sister, Virginia (John) Gentling, her sister-in-law, Ardella (Jim) Geyer, and many nieces and nephews. The Thelma G. Wolff International Scholarship has been established in Thelma's name and was inspired by her love of travel and living abroad. It will be awarded annually to a student at Arizona State University who wishes to complete a semester studying abroad. A memorial service for Thelma will be held at Maravilla Scottsdale, 7325 E Princess Blvd, Scottsdale, AZ 85255 on Saturday, June 17 at 1:00. Burial will be at a later date in Minnesota. Memorials may be directed to the Maravilla IL Gift Fund in Thelma's name. The address is Maravilla/Scottsdale, 7325 E. Princess Blvd. Scottsdale, AZ 85255. The gift fund will be distributed to Maravilla employees as a way to show appreciation for their attention and dedication to the seniors who live at Maravilla.
