Thelma Birch Schenk (91) passed away Feb. 25, 2010, at her home in Logan surrounded by loved ones. She was born on March 16, 1918, in Logan to Francis T. and Emily Ellen Miller Birch. She graduated from Logan High School and married Merlin F. Schenk on April 10, 1942, in Preston, Idaho. They were later sealed together for time and all eternity in the Logan LDS Temple. She took care of her husband Merlin for 35 years after he contracted Parkinson's. She was a homemaker and devoted mother who enjoyed crocheting and made various hand-sewn items, a skill that she passed on to her daughter and granddaughter. Thelma was an avid Jazz fan and loved to cheer from her comfy recliner at home, even louder when they were winning. She was a member of the LDS Church and held various callings. She is survived by a son and a daughter: Raymond M. (Gayle) Schenk (Holladay); and Susan (Stephen) Tryon (Logan); five grandchildren: Tiffany Forbis (Cameron), and Chris Tryon (Logan), Matthew Burr (Orem), Todd Burr (SLC), and Don E. Burr (Holladay); four great-grandchildren, Nikki Burr, Haylee Burr, Zack Burr (Holladay), and Sophia M. Forbis (Logan). She was preceded in death by Merlin F. Schenk, her loving husband; her mother and father, Francis T. and Emily Birch; her sisters Hazel and Settie; and a brother, Oliver T. Birch. Her family would like to thank Alpine Hospice for their compassionate service. Funeral service will be held Monday, March 1, 2010, at noon in the Allen-Hall Mortuary Chapel, 34 E. Center St., Logan.
