Ted Clark BostwickBlanchard, LA - Ted Bostwick, 90, a lifelong resident of Blanchard, Louisiana, passed away on November 11, 2017 after a lengthy illness. He died at home surrounded by family and loved ones.Ted was born on February 5, 1927 to Obie Osborn Bostwick and Mae Taylor Bostwick of Blanchard. He graduated Fair Park High School in 1944 and promptly enlisted in the
US Navy where he served in the South Pacific thru the end of
World War II. Upon honorable discharge, he attended Northwestern State University on a Football scholarship. He returned to Blanchard to assist his ill father in managing the family farm and timber business.Ted was elected Blanchard's first Town Marshall and Constable. Later he served as Chief of Police for 18 years. He worked at Riley Beards for 20 years as a welder. He was a community leader and served in positions of several local organizations such as the Blanchard Athletic Club, Boy Scouts of America and Kiwanis Club. He and close friend, Barrett Hudson, were the driving force behind the creation of the "Prayer Garden" of First Baptist Church of Blanchard and faithfully tended it for years.An exceptionally fit man, Ted lived a healthy, robust life until his final decade. Married to Sarah Morris Bostwick for 68 years, he was deeply in love with her until his final breath. He cherished his children and grandchildren. Ted loved watching his LSU Tiger Football and Baseball teams, especially with family members. He often said he never expected to live this long and was grateful for the friends and experiences he has had over his 90 years. He left this earth with Christian courage, eager to meet his Maker, and certain of his salvation in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents, Obie and Mae Bostwick, Brother, Robert Darrell Bostwick and Daughter, Christi Kay Bostwick.He is survived by his Wife, Sarah Bostwick, Daughter, Vicki Bostwick, Son and Daughter-in-Law, Terry and Debbie Bostwick, Grandsons, Stuart and Spencer Bostwick, Brother, Frank Taylor Bostwick and wife Louise, Sister, Ouida Bostwick Tippett, and "Heart adopted Daughter," Janet Tippett and Husband Buzz.Special thank you to the Snell, Latsos, Permenter, Tippett, and Culbertson Families and Betty Cline for years of support and encouragement. The family wants to acknowledge honorary family members, Melvin Pierre and Jackie Savannah for their compassionate care to Ted during his last years of life. Gratitude to Blanchard Fire District One for their rapid response to the many calls made on Ted's behalf; and the constant ministry and support from Trinity Heights Baptist and First Baptist Church of Blanchard. Finally, thank you to Southern Care Hospice, Nurse, Belinda Montgomery and Caregiver Sheila Russell.Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church of Blanchard at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, Nov 15th, followed by Services at 11:00 AM.
