Edinburg - Sylvia Ch. Gomez, our beloved mother, 85 yrs old, residing in Edinburg went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 4, 2016, to join her loving husband of 61 years. By her side were her children and family. Sylvia, daughter of Manuel and Estela Chaveznava was born on Oct. 21st, 1931 in Monterey, N.L., Mexico. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed, but her legacy will continue through her family.She is preceded in death by her husband, Everardo Gomez Sr.; her parents, Manuel and Estella Chaveznava; five brothers, Cesar, Victor, Jaime, Jorge and Ismael Chaveznava; parents-in-law, Francisco and Maria Gomez; and other family members, Ricky Garza Sr., Angela Garza and Jax Gomez. Sylvia is survived by nine children, Everardo (Lupita) Gomez Jr., Yvonne (Amado) Bazan Jr., Sylvia (Jimmy) De Luna Jr., Frank (Gloria) Gomez, Becky (Ricky+) Garza Sr., Mike (Barbara) Gomez, Myrthala (Arnoldo) Gonzalez Sr., Claudia (Rogelio) Mora, Abby (Ruben) Gomez Jr.; 29 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Leticia Cheveznava and Imelda Ch. (Ricardo) Gil; numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Jorge Gomez, Jerry Bazan, Leo Limon Jr., Frank Gomez II, JR Garza, Andrew Gomez, Arnoldo Gonzalez Jr., Eric Mora, Johnathan and Joseph Gomez. Honorary pallbearers will be Irma Gomez, Sandra Bazan, Laura Limon, Letty Garza, Jennifer Gajardo, Amanda Wennberg, Jessica Garza, Brianne Gilbreath, Candice Mora, Kayla Mora, Kassandra Gomez and Andrea Gomez. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary, today December 6, 2016, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen.Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
