Stuart Vahlcamp ReynoldsStuart Vahlcamp Reynolds, 85 passed away Sept. 3, 2017 at home in The Villages, Fl. He was born on Sept. 20, 1931 in Dell Rapids, SD to Gaylord and Edith Grau Reynolds.Stu grew up in in Flandreau, SD and graduated from Flandreau High School in 1950. He graduated from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, NB with a B.A. in Law. He was then commissioned an Ensign in the
United States Navy through the Reserve Officer Training Corps and served for 20 years. Stu earned his Navy "Wings" in Sept 1954 after training at NAS Pensacola and Whiting Field in Milton, FL. He completed two combat tours flying the E1 C and E2A over Vietnam with VAW-121 and was VAW 121 Commanding Officer in 1968. Stu earned the Navy Air Medal, the Vietnamese Service Medal, the
Bronze Star and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. He retired from active duty in 1975 achieving the rank of Cmdr. In retirement Stu was a stockbroker for Dean Witter Reynolds in Pensacola and a realtor at Keller Williams in Pensacola Beach, FL.In 1955 Stu married Patricia Hughes in Pipestone, Minnesota. Married 35 years, they raised 5 children. In 2009, Stu married Nancy Melton in The Villages, FL. Stu was an avid Nebraska Huskers fan, lifelong member of Ducks Unlimited, past president of Pensacola Jaycees and Optimist Clubs and a member of Pensacola Kiwanis and Rotary. In the Villages, FL he co-founded "Wings of Gold" and was a member of the Red Garter Jazz Band. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, travel and music. A talented musician, he played the trumpet, trombone, piano and banjo.Stu was preceded in death by his father and mother Gaylord and Edith Reynolds, his former wife Patricia Reynolds and brother, Malcom Reynolds. He is survived by his spouse, Nancy Reynolds, his daughters Julia A. Lagergren (Leif) and Cynthia J. Brown; sons Charles H. Reynolds, Stuart V. Reynolds, Jr. and Alan S. Reynolds, 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Fort Barrancas National Cemetery, 1 Cemetery Road, Pensacola, FL at 930 AM September 22, 2017.
