KINSTON | Stuart Lyle Rouse was born on March 13, 1925, in Dawson Station, North Carolina. He died on February 14, 2016, at Vidant Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rupert and Ruth Rouse; brother Rupert Garth Rouse; and his wife, Annie Lee Rouse. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 19, 2016, at Edwards Funeral Home with Pastor Hank Jarman officiating. Burial will follow in Pinelawn Memorial Park. Family visitation will be held Thursday night beginning at 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home. He is survived by his son, Kevin Rouse; daughters Nell Felding and husband Tom, Thomasine Bright and husband Bill; granddaughters Ashley and Tara; and a great-granddaughter, Kennedy Jane; sisters Audrey Tyson and Eris Bias; brother Gary Rouse and wife Elsie; and special friends, Shelby and Bobby Blanton. He attended Wheat Swamp High School before being inducted into the U.S. Army in 1944. He served proudly with the 104th Infantry Division known as the ""Timberwolves"" where he received the Bronze Star Medal, The Purple Heart, and various other decorations for his service. Following an honorable discharge, Mr. Rouse returned to Lenoir County and became a successful farmer. Throughout his life, Mr. Rouse demonstrated great love and devotion to his God, family, country, church, neighbors, and friends. He was an active member of Wheat Swamp Christian Church since 1937; a member of the VFW and the American Legion. Of all the various accomplishments and recognition, he was most proud of his son, Kevin. In lieu of flowers, Kevin requests donations may be made to Wheat Swamp Christian Church General Fund.
