STANLEY C. "STAN" LUDWIG, 72 FORRESTON - Stanley C. "Stan" Ludwig, 72, of Forreston, died Monday April 20, 2015 at Neighbors Nursing Center in Byron. Stanley was born on September 12, 1942 in Forreston, the son of Christian and Lydia (Wubbena) Ludwig. Stanley married Karen Johnson on August 28, 1965 in Freeport. Stanley was a lifelong farmer in the Forreston area, drove School Bus for the Forrestville Valley School District, Superintendent of Sunset Golf Course, and was also a DeKalb seed dealer. He was a member of the Forreston Reformed Church, former member and President of the Forreston Community Club, served on the Forreston School Board, and former member of the Germania Club. Stan enjoyed bowling and golfing, following all of Forreston Cardinal Athletics, Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs. Stan served in the Illinois National Guard and was a member of "the Table of Knowledge" at the Farmers Family Restaurant. Surviving are wife, Karen Ludwig of Forreston; sons, Matt (Tammy) Ludwig and their children, Karissa and Jordan all of Forreston; Joel (Shawnda) Ludwig and their children, Allison, Samantha, Jacqueline and Joel; two sisters-in-law, Betty Ludwig of Forreston, and Sara (John) Fisher of Germantown, Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter, Gretchen Ann; sister, Marlene; two brothers, Robert and Donald; nieces, Beverly Ralston and Diana Ludwig and his nephew, Christopher Tedrow. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday April, 25, at Forreston Reformed Church. Rev. Tim Fry, pastor will officiate. Visitation will be Friday 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home, 203 3rd Ave. Forreston. Burial will be in West Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials have been established for Forreston Reformed Church and Forrestville School District Foundation in Mr. Ludwig's memory.
