Stanley K. Smith, age 51, died on Monday, July 6, 2009, at his home in Oscoda. He was born on Aug. 7, 1957, in Tokyo, Japan, to Ronald and Yoshiko (nee Miyazaki) Smith. He has been a resident of the Oscoda area since 1973. Stanley worked for Cooper Standard for 25 years as a stock handler. He enjoyed making model airplanes, being on the computer and motorcycle riding. Stanley was a devoted husband. He is survived by his wife, Michelle, to whom he was married on Aug. 6, 2005, in Mikado. Stanley is also survived by his stepchildren, Caleb and Dylan Whitney; his parents, Ronald and Yoshiko Smith; his sister, Barbara Ann (LeRoy) Hoof; and his niece, Erin Magpie. He is survived by his two dogs, Coco and Cinnamon. Funeral services were held Thursday, July 9, at the Buresh chapel of Buresh-Bennett Funeral Homes, Inc. in Oscoda. The family received friends prior to the service at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions are suggested to the family.
