Millville, Utah - Sherry Leishman Tibbitts passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2013, at home in Millville, Utah, surrounded by her family. Sherry, along with twin sister Shirley, was born on June 21, 1931, in Wellsville, Utah, to her parents, Elmer Archibald Leishman and Rena Poppleton Maughan Leishman. She graduated from South Cache High in 1950, in the same class as four of her siblings: Shirley, her twin sisters Rena and Renae (who were born 11 months after Sherry and Shirley), and brother Courtney. Sherry married Elmer Yost Tibbitts, originally of Providence, Utah, on Dec. 18, 1953, in the Logan LDS Temple. They were the parents of seven children. Elmer and Sherry raised their children in Panaca, Nev., and after retirement moved back to Cache Valley. Sherry was a lifelong member of the LDS Church, serving in many callings. She served for many years as a church service missionary at the CES Special Institute. Sherry made wonderful handwork and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, but most especially quilting. One of her greatest loves was the weekly quilting get-togethers with her sisters and cousins. She enjoyed gardening, canning, and sports. She and her son Steven were avid supporters of Mountain Crest, Utah State, and the Utah Jazz. She recently discovered USU hockey and became a fan. Sherry was preceded in death by her mother and father, brother Thomas Kent, husband Elmer, her son Clark, sisters Elna Neilsen and LaVay Larsen, and two grandchildren. She is survived by her siblings, Courtney Leishman, Shirley Jensen, Rena Murray, Renee Bingham, Kay Leishman, and Linda Coleman; her sons, Gary (Vicki) of Orem, Steven of Millville, Dan (Karen) of Taylorsville, Loree (Mason) Stackhouse of Panaca, Nev., Brent (Lisa) also of Panaca, Nev., and Lee (Kim) of Millville; 26 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2013, in the Millville Stake Center at 360 E., 450 North in Millville. A viewing will be held on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Nelson Funeral Home, 162 E., 400 North in Logan, and prior to the services on Wednesday at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Providence City Cemetery.
