Shari Sky "Brier" Roessner was born on February 7, 1979, in Portland Oregon. She passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on February 4, 2019.
Shari was a proud third generation Oregonian and lived in Oregon for her entire adult life (save for a brief stint in Virginia Beach, VA during college). She graduated from Central Catholic High School in Portland in 1997 and then attended Portland State University. An acolyte from age 4, Shari grew up at Saints Peter and Paul Episcopal Church in Portland where she was also baptized and confirmed. Shari worked at Starbucks for over 10 years and accumulated quite the stash of coffee mugs and aprons! One of Shari’s greatest achievements was becoming a foster parent and eventually adopting her son Aaron. Her career as a stay-at-home mom brought her much happiness and her love for him was endless.
Shari also loved the outdoors and Camp Arrowhead. A girl scout and camper since age 7, Shari eventually became a CIT and then held many roles on camp staff: counselor, program director, “arts and crafts lady”, and CIT director. Camp Arrowhead again became a focal issue in her life when the Girl Scouts threatened to sue the camp and she joined the Save Camp Arrowhead Committee. In part due to her advocacy, the camp was saved for further generations of girls to enjoy.
Shari is survived by her wife Kirsten and son Aaron, as well as siblings Emily, Alex, Amber, Joshua, Jacob, and Cody. She is also survived by parents Dianne and David Wasson and Garth and Jane Roessner, as well as her aunts Holly, Michaela, Marcia, Carol, and uncle Joel. She also leaves behind innumerable friends, colleagues, and sisters in Girl Scouting.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 17 at 3 pm at Christ Episcopal Church in Lake Oswego.
