Seraphine "Sarah" (Duerr) Holker, 89MonticelloSt. MichaelAugust 31, 1927 - November 29, 2016Seraphine "Sarah" (Duerr) Holker, age 89 of Monticello, passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2016. Visitation will be Thursday December 1, 2016 from 4 pm to 7 pm at Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel, 250 East Broadway, Monticello. There will be a prayer service at 6 pm. Further visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Friday. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday December 2, 2016 at 1030 am with Fr. Tony VanderLoop officiating at St Henry Catholic Church, 1001 East 7th Street, Monticello.  Interment will be at the church cemetery.Sarah was born on August 31, 1927 in St. Michael to Lorenz and Helen (Lehn) Duerr. After completing the 8th grade, she spent her time being a nanny for several young families having babies and young children, needing help caring for them and doing housework. She was united in marriage to Jim Holker on May 14, 1947. They went to live on the family farm where Jim helped his dad with the farm work. They stayed there for the next forty years, raising seven children.  Sarah is survived by her children Jane (Dan) Baynes of Foley, MN, James (Lyn) Holker of Brooklyn Park, MN, Donald (Donna) Holker of Monticello, MN, Catherine (Russ) Kilness of Foley, MN, Louis (Cheri) Holker of Swatara, MN, Gerald Holker of Motley, MN, and Joseph Holker of Monticello, MN; 19 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; sisters Theresa Wilmes of Osseo, MN and Genevieve Kearney of South Dakota; brothers Leonard Duerr of Ogilvie, MN and Willy Duerr of Albertville, MN;  and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lorenz and Helen Duerr; husband Jim in 1987; brothers Gerhard of Anoka, MN and Clem of Oregon. Her grandsons will serve as casketbearers.Sarah had been living at Mary's House in Monticello since 2013.  The family wishes to thank Pam Jones and all the girls there for the wonderful, dedicated care Sarah received.
