SARAH MANNING, 91 LANARK - Sarah (Sally) Manning, 91 of Lanark, IL died Sunday, April 27, 2014 at Good Samaritan Society Nursing Home in Mt Carroll, IL. She was born on September 25, 1922 in Ogle County, the daughter of Chas and Florence (Conrad) Beightol. Sarah and Ralph Manning were married on June 29, 1950 in Michigan. During WWII Sarah operated a sewing machine at the Polo Garment factory. Sarah worked in the cafeteria at Eastland (Lanark) High School for 35 years. She was an active member of the Lanark United Methodist Church and the Lanark community for over 50 years. She enjoyed cooking/baking, gardening, traveling, and spending time with family. Sarah was also well known as "Grandma Sally" to a generation of Lanark kids who attended McWorthy Daycare in Lanark. She is survived by her son, Robert (Myra) Manning of Rock Falls, IL; daughter, Marian (Rick) McWorthy of Lanark, IL; grandchildren, Robb (Tyshunda) Manning of Germantown, WI; Amber (Nick) Ouellette of Carbondale, IL; Chance (Emily) McWorthy of Springville, IA; Shandi Manning of Sterling, IL; Lindsay (Chad) Baker of Orangeville, IL; and great-grandchildren, R. Justin Manning; Tyson Manning; Brandon Manning; Mason McWorthy; and Maci Cramer. Preceded her in death were her parents; husband, Ralph; sisters, Evelyn Shafer, Ruth Engel, Lucille Schroeder; brothers, Harold Beightol, Albert Beightol; and Granddaughter, Christina Diana Manning. The family would like to thank the staff at Good Samaritan Society Nursing Home and FHN Hospice for the kind care Sarah received during her stay. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 1st, 2014 at the Lanark United Methodist Church, 405 East Locust St, Lanark, IL. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday April 30th, 2014, at the church. Interment will be in the Lanark Cemetery.
