Sarah Elizabeth Wesner Schwede, 88, a resident of Las Vegas, passed away on June 30, 2014 in Santa Fe.Mrs. Schwede was born on Aug. 21, 1925, in Las Vegas to Rose E. and Frank J. Wesner. She attended Las Vegas City Schools and graduated from High school in 1943. Betty, as she is better known, attended MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Ill. and Colorado Women's College in Denver, Colo. She was employed by the Las Vegas High School and Highlands University from 1947 to 1959. Mrs. Schwede was a member of the Chapter H.P.E.O. and First United Methodist Church of Las Vegas. She also served on the Board of Trustees of Northeastern Regional Hospital and also on the Corporate Board for many years. Mrs. Schwede also wrote a book, "Gallinas Past and Present".She is survived by her son, Daniel Schwede of Rio Rancho; nieces and nephews, James Martin wife, Kathy, Wanda Martin, all of Socorro, Richard Krasin wife, Mariann, and Karlin Krasin, all of Santa Fe.Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Rogers Chapel with the Rev. Rosemary Pierson officiating.
