Sandy Hearn LUBBOCK-Sandra Jean Hearn, 70, of Idalou, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2016. She was born on Aug. 14, 1946, in Lubbock. Sandy graduated from Idalou High School, where she was a star basketball player and a twirler in the marching band. She went on to attend Wayland Baptist University where she was a member of the Flying Queens basketball team. Sandy worked for Hemphill Wells Department Store in Lubbock and was a licensed make-up artist. In 1980 she married Wylie Buff Hearn and joined him in pastoral ministry to the United Methodist congregations in Texas and New Mexico for the next thirty-six years. She was well known for her gift of welcoming and hospitality, and cooking. Sandy had a love for bowling and playing bridge. Sandy has been a member of the Idalou United Methodist Church since the age of twelve. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Buff; children, Amanda Harmon and husband, Scott of Idalou, Melanie Hohman and husband, Darrel of Claude, and Bay John Long of Slaton; step-daughter, Audra Day and husband, Dr. Miles Day of Lubbock; siblings, Don Foreman and wife Jody of Idalou and Patsy Burch of Lubbock; three grandchildren, Guy Harmon, Micah Day, and Hannah Day; as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Ed Foreman and Mabel May Dixon; and a grandson, Jett Long Harmon in 2009. An open visitation will be held from 1 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016, at Combest Family Funeral Homes of Lubbock. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2016, at the Idalou United Methodist Church with interment to follow in the Idalou Cemetery.
