Sandra Kay Miller of Middleville passed away Jan. 24, 2011, at the age of 54.She was born on Oct. 11, 1956, in West Branch to Herbert and Marion (Flynn) Short, who preceded her in death.She graduated from Hale High School shortly after moving to Lansing and received bachelor's and master's degrees from Michigan State University in social work.She was married to Matthew Miller for 15 years.Sandra was employed as a mental health therapist specializing in substance abuse at Barry County Drug Court.She loved spending time with her grandchildren, scrapbooking, entertaining family and family gatherings.She is survived by her husband, Matthew; son, Tim (Debbie) Short; grandchildren, Clayton, Jamison, Noah and Isiah; son, Jim Kocher; grandchildren, James and Isabele; stepdaughters, Shannon Miller, Sarah Miller and Stephanie Miller; stepson, Dave (Jenny) Hill; grandchildren, Jaylee and Briella; brother, Terry Short of Gaylord; and sister, Tammy Short of Seattle, Wash.Visitation was held Jan. 27 at Lauer Family Funeral Homes- Wren Chapel, 1401 N. Broadway, Hastings. Visitation was also held at Gun Lake Community Church, 12200 West M-179 Hwy., Wayland, Jan. 28 and services followed with Pastor Mark Veldt officiating.Memorial contributions can be made in Sandra's name to the .
