Sharon Irene DeGroot-Taylor, age 72 of Kansas City, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, September 13th, 2016, at her home. Graveside Funeral Service will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17th at the Bonner Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends at a visitation from 9:30 to 11:30 prior to the service at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home. Sharon was born on Sept. 30th, 1943 in Topeka, Kansas and moved to the Kansas City area in the late 1970's when her children were in High School. Sharon enjoyed working in the Grocery Industry for over 50 years, and most recently as a cashier for Whole Foods, at 91st & Metcalf, for the last 13 years. She was a Baptist and always had a strong faith and love for the Lord. Sharon was preceded in death by her first husband Paul DeGroot, Jr., one grandson Dalton DeGroot, and one brother Ronald Devers. Survivors include her husband of 20 years, Monte Taylor of the home, one son Jeff DeGroot of Piper, KS., one daughter Darla Umlauf (Rick) of Warsaw, MO., one stepson Monte Taylor, II (LeLanie) of Raymore, MO., one stepdaughter Melissa Eyre (Stuart) of Lee's Summit, MO., two brothers Donald Devers (Athena) of Eudora, KS., Larry Devers (Jessica) of Las Cruces, NM., 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
