Ruth was born on August 14, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois to the union of Thomas and Annabell Coleman who preceded her in death. Ruth attended Wendell Philips elementary and high school in 1941. Ruth married moses in 1942 from that union Ronald, Tasleem, and Paulette was born Moses preceded her in death and she later married Joe Williams from that union Joe Jr. was born.

After volunterring at her children school, she pursued and obtained a bachelors degree in early childhood education. She worked at the Archdiocese of Chicago from 1972-1990.

She was truly passionate about taking care of children. She accepted Christ at a very early age. She loved serving the Lord and was an active member of Morgan Park United Methodist Church. Her favorite hobbies were working crossword puzzles and collecting angles. 

Ruth transitioned to her heavenly home Wednesday, March 13, 2019. She was preceded in death by her sons Ronald Glover and Joe Williams. 

She is survived by her daughters Tasleem and Paulette brothe; Joseph (Alona) Coleman; Six grandaughters Sameera, Rhonda, Loretha, Shaakira, Zakiyyah, and Taneesha; ten great grandchildren and countless relatives and friends.
