FORT WAYNE — Ruth Mae (Boylan) Nusbaum, 91, died on Friday, Sept. 12, 2014, at home. She was born on Jan. 1, 1923 near Antwerp in Paulding County, Ohio, the daughter of Guy and Ethel (Seslar) Boylan. She graduated from Spencerville High School in 1941 and married Homer L. Nusbaum on June 29, 1941, at the Gospel Tabernacle, Hicksville, Ohio, where she was a member for 68 years. Their first home was on Fairmount Place in Fort Wayne, now the location of The Rescue Mission's Charis House and the Homer and Ruth Nusbaum Garden. In 1945, they bought a farm in DeKalb County, Indiana, and lived there for the next 51 years. Ruth was known for her strong faith, gentle and compassionate spirit, love of books, and delightful sense of humor. Ruth is survived by a daughter, Imogene Nusbaum-Snyder, and "adopted" daughter, Lauralee Aven, both of Fort Wayne; a granddaughter, Inge Snyder of Indianapolis; a brother, Lester Boylan of Auburn, Indiana; sister-in-law, Ruth Ann Boylan of Leesburg, Florida; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister Aileen Little; and brother, W. Lavon. A memorial service is at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 26, 2014, at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 4700 Vance Ave., Fort Wayne, where the family will be available to visit with friends beginning at 10 a.m. Ruth has donated her body to the IU Medical School for education and research.
