RuthLamb PorterMcDowell - Ruth Lamb Porter, age 79, of Marion, NC, passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2016 at the Carolina's Health Care System - Blue Ridge. A native of McDowell County, Ruth was born on June 17, 1937 and was a daughter of the late George and Emma Lamb. She was a member of the East Marion Pentecostal Holiness Church. Ruth was employed as a weaver for Spindale Mills for 20 years. She loved her family and as a very caring person was a "Mom" to many people, and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her husband, Roy Kenneth Porter; Sister Wilma Lamb; Brothers Billy Ray Lamb and Clarence Lamb; and special nephew Duane Lamb. Ruth leaves behind a daughter, Donna and her fiancé Glenn Pack of Marion; Three sisters, Anne, Ruby, and Virginia and three grandchildren, Julie Shytle, Ryan Whitley, and Joey Pack. Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Westmoreland Funeral Home with Rev. John Causby officiating.
