Ruth Kathleen Starkey, 94, of 231 Wild Rose Lane, Rock Springs, Wyoming, passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at the Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County where she had been a patient for the past week. A resident of Rock Springs for the past eleven years and former resident of Yuma, Arizona. Mrs. Starkey died following a lengthy illness. Ruth was born on November 17, 1915 in Perry, Maine, the daughter of the late Frank Austin Robinson and Mildred Stanhope Robinson. Ruth married Nahum Joseph Starkey in Mesa, Arizona on April 1, 1948, and he passed away in Yuma in May of 1993. Mrs. Starkey operated a daycare in her home for many years. Her interests included spending time with her family, knitting, quilting and cooking. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Ruth is survived by her son, Glenn Starkey and wife, Jeanne, of Rock Springs, Wyoming; three grandchildren, Jason Starkey of Rock Springs, Wyoming, Michelle Spencer of Port Richie, Florida, and Joshua Starkey of Phoenix; four great-grandchildren, David Spencer, Carolyn Spencer, Amber Borth and Trayden Starkey; numerous nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Darrell, Keith, Roland, Lewis and Bill; sisters, Ann and Irma. Funeral services and internment will be conducted in Yuma, Arizona. Visitation will be Friday, November 27, 2009, 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Johnson Mortuary Chapel. Funeral services to be Saturday, November 28, 2009, 11:00 p.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church. Internment to be at Desert Lawn Memorial Park, Yuma, Arizona. The family of Ruth Kathleen Starkey respectfully suggests that donations in her memory be made to the charity of your choice.
