Pugh, Ruth Elizabeth Ruth Elizabeth Pugh, age 97, passed away in Peoria, Arizona, on June 25, 2017. She was born on September 28, 1919, in Mt. Vernon, Texas, and moved to Peoria in 1941. Ruth was a charter member of the First Southern Baptist Church of Peoria. She belonged to the Rebekah's and Odd Fellows organization all her adult life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harlon, parents, Marvin and Nancy Smith, sisters Pearl Beall, Florine Sharp, B Wacker, Mary Bradshaw, Ellen Burns, Nellie Hodges, Jewel Smith, and twin brother and sister, who both died in infancy; brothers Lewis Smith and Henry Smith. Ruth is survived by her sister Alice Friesinger, and brother Charles Smith (Dottie), daughter, Wanda Wentz (Charles), son, Ernie Pugh (Vickie); 3 grand children, Kimberly Coltrin (Tony), Scott Villanueva (Pam), and Matt Wentz; 4 great--grandchildren, Taylor Coltrin, Emily Coltrin, Riley Villanueva and Vera Villanueva. Ruth is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held Thursday, June 29th, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary, 7924 N. 59th Ave., Glendale, AZ 85301. Funeral services will take place Friday, June 30th, at 10:00 a.m., at The Church at Cactus, 8133 W. Cactus Rd., Peoria, AZ 85381, with burial immediately following at Resthaven Park Cemetery, 6450 W. Northern, Glendale, AZ 85301. The family would especially like to thank Wings of Hope hospice nurse, Kimberly Davis, for her exceptional care of Ruth. Also, deserving of appreciation are Dana and Dan Popa, of Desert Bloom Adult Care Home, where Ruth was lovingly cared for during her final weeks.
