WILLIAMSBURG - Russell Alfred Sykes, Jr., peacefully passed away in his home on Monday, November 7, 2016. He was born on April 7, 1952, the son of the late Novella Finn Jones and Russell Sykes, Sr., in Chesterfield, VA. Russell was employed by the Williamsburg-James City County School System in the Child Nutrition Services Department. He is survived by his five siblings, Gladys B. Burrell, Sheila Richerson (Rubin), of Chesterfield, VA, Andrea Smith (Thomas, Sr.), Christopher Jones and Pamela Sykes (Anthony), of Richmond, VA. A funeral service celebrating his life will be held 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 16, 2016, in New Zion Baptist Church, 3991 Longhill Road. Mr. Sykes may be viewed only in the church on Wednesday, beginning at 12:00 noon, until the hour of his service.
