Rudolph 'Jake' Lasher, 97, of Meshoppen, passed away at the Gracious Living Estates South Montrose surrounded by his family on Tuesday July 30. He was married 68 years to the late Mildred Fassett.He was born on March 13, 1916 in Brinktown, the son of the late Raymond and Sadie Gregory Lasher. Jake served with the Army in WWII and through out his life he was a farmer, mail carrier, bus driver, egg hauler and retired from Proctor and Gamble. He also was a county committee man and a member of the American Legion. Jake was a member of the Elk Lake Community Church. He enjoyed watching many different sports at the Elk Lake High School.Surviving are five daughters, Dorothy, Tunkhannock; Sandy and husband, Robert Garey, Mill City; Beulah and husband, Nelson Clayton, Meshoppen; Helen and husband, William Rought, Falls; and Patricia and husband, Charles Michalowski, Lake Winola; a son, Raymond Lasher and wife, Patty, Montrose; 10 grandchildren, Debbie and husband Bob Cudworth, James Teetsel Jr. and wife Cathy, Lisa Edwards and husband Jesse, Jonathan Clayton, William Rought Jr. and wife Edie, Guy Michalowski and wife Bettina, Jennifer Hoover and husband Ben, Julie Sellitto and husband John, Chad Lasher and Aubrey Guiton and husband Ryan; 16 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents and wife, Mildred, he was preceded in death by a great-grandson; a nephew, Henry Alexander; two sisters Arlene Alexander and Louise Eising; and son-in-law, James Teetsel.Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 3, at the Northmoreland Baptist Church, Creamery Rd Centermorland with Pastor James R. Howell officiating. Interment, Jersey Hill Cemetery, Auburn Twp.Friends called Friday, Aug. 2 at the Harding-Litwin Funeral Home, 123 W. Tioga St.. Tunkhannock.
