Rudolph BaldiviaRudolph "Rudy" Baldivia, 85, of Fort Collins died at his home on February 17, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Rudy was born on November 29, 1931 in Timnath, CO to Rudolpho and Eupenia Baldivia. After high school, he worked in the tunnels in the Poudre Canyon to help support his family. In 1950 he joined the
Army and returned to Ft. Collins in 1954 to marry his sweetheart, Mary Ann Solano at Holy Family Catholic Church where they were members. He was nicknamed "Baldy" and "Greyhound". He graduated from barber school in Denver and ran The Barber Shop in Ft. Collins until his retirement. Rudy loved to play golf and work on his investment properties. He loved the Broncos and the Rockies. In his younger years he played city league baseball and coached the Ft. Collins Merchants baseball team and the "September 16th" softball team the year that they took the state championship title. He loved his family and was a very giving and forgiving patriarch. Rudy is survived by his wife of 62 years, son Rudolph Baldivia of Ft. Collins, daughters Rudina Baldivia of Pueblo, Sharon Hayes of Ft. Collins and Stephanie (Arnold) Gonzales of Ft. Collins, 6 sisters, 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters and 4 brothers. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 5 to 7 PM at the Vessey Chapel, 2649 E. Mulberry St., #1. A funeral service with full military honors will be held on Friday, February 24 at 10:00 PM, Holy Family Catholic Church. A reception will follow the service.
