Roy Clifton BonardNaples, FLIn loving memory, Roy Clifton Bonard, 91, passed away peacefully on the 18th of March at his home in Naples, Florida, USA surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer.Roy was born on the 29th of June 1925, to Oswald and Gwendoline Barrajo in the sub-district of Harlow in the County of Essex, England. He was the middle child of 3, having a sister 14 years older and a brother 14 months younger both of whom are deceased.Having joined the Royal Navy at the age of 16, Roy dedicatedly served his country for more than a decade spending most of his 15-year naval career as a signalman onboard minesweepers performing minesweeping operations off the coast of Ireland near Edinburgh and Chatham; later serving his last 2-1/2 years minesweeping off the coast of Simon's Town, South Africa.At the age of 30, Roy retired from the Royal Navy and then worked eight years as an estimator for the large English building company, Taylor Woodrow, which at the time, was one of the largest housebuilding and general construction companies in all of Britain. Roy then became the General Manager of the prestigious L.F. Knight, Ltd, company making top quality garden buildings, sheds and greenhouses throughout England. Having successfully managed this company for many years, he later bought it out with another partner and in 1988 he eventually decided to sell and retire.Roy Bonard was a loving father survived by his two daughters and granddaughter from his first wife, Audrey (deceased) and their families: daughter Michelle and her husband Andrew Pearce; daughter Lorraine and her husband Keith Williams and granddaughter Fran and husband Kevin Laughton-Zimmerman.In his later years, Roy became the devoted and loving husband, friend and companion to Patricia Morton and moved to Naples, FL. USA. Roy is survived by his wife Patricia with whom his family grew to include and is survived by son Clark Morton II & Orapan (Miami, FL); son Jefferson Morton & wife Pam (Delray Beach, FL); daughter Cathy Morton & Don (Naples, FL) and Ross Morton & wife Louise (Venice, FL).At the age of 91, Roy lived life to its fullest. He was very blessed to have a large loving family with many loving friends on both sides of the ocean. You could always see him dressed as a very proper Englishman with a proper suit, tie and always "the hat." It was a constant joy for him to meet and get to know new people, greeting everyone with a warm friendly smile.Roy's interests and activities over the years centered around being a leader in his community and various organizations such as the Freemasons or simply taking delight in the opportunity to enjoy and please others whether it be creating a delicious and beautifully decorated English meat pie, assembling a vast stamp collection, playing a round of golf or simply enjoying the pleasantry of conversation late into the evening.A memorial service for family and friends celebrating his life will be held at 1:30 P.M., Monday, April 10, 2017 in St. Agnes Chapel at 7775 Vanderbilt Beach Rd, Naples, Florida 34120.
