Rosemary (Murphy) GriffinDes MoinesRosemary (Murphy) Griffin, 89 of Des Moines, passed away on Thursday, July 27, 2017. Rosemary was born on December 16, 1927 to Edward and Rose Murphy in Des Moines, IA. She graduated from St Joseph Academy in 1945. She was employed by Northwestern Bell and retired in 1989. Rosemary met and married the love of her life, Al Griffin, on June 11, 1949. They had six children: Michael, Patricia, Dennis (wife Stephanie), James, Kathleen (husband Jerry Dowell), Maureen (husband Rob Jackson), along with sixteen grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children, brother, Edward Murphy; and sister, Eileen Holton. She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Al. Rosemary was a loving mother, devoted wife and GREAT friend to all that met her. She was an incredible cook and was a skilled cake decorator. She made many wedding cakes for family and friends throughout the years. Her passion was preparing and hosting family and friend gatherings. She spent hours planning, preparing the food, buying special gifts and hosting for the people she LOVED. Her radiant smile and laugh made everyone instantaneously fall in love with her. She was a rare individual, so giving, so loving, she will be missed. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 31, 2017, at All Saints Catholic Church, 650 NE 52nd Avenue in Des Moines with burial to follow at Glendale Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday afternoon from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines.
