Rose Louise MutchlerSalisbury-Rose Louise Mutchler, nee Meilhammer, age 87, of Salisbury, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at the John B. Parsons Home, surrounded by her loving family.Rose was born on November 14, 1929 in Cumberland, Wisconsin, the youngest daughter of the late John and Martha Meilhammer. Her parents moved the family to the Eastern Shore in the early 1930's. She married Richmond Mutchler in 1952 and was married for twenty eight years. She worked as a seamstress while raising her family and in her later years worked as a school crossing guard. She enjoyed traveling, hiking, visiting her many friends and family, and will be sadly missed.She is survived by her children, Christopher Mutchler of Salisbury, Robin Mutchler (Sharon) of Salisbury, and Dawn Dugary (Joseph) of New Jersey; grandchildren, Justin Mutchler of Salisbury, Jessica Mutchler of Virginia, Brianna Dugary and Joe Dugary Jr. of New Jersey. One great granddaughter, Arielle Hicks; niece Bonnie Gross (Robert), nephew Joe Meilhammer (Linda), both of Salisbury and niece Dorothy Ann Toms (Donald) of Ocean Pines along with many other nieces and nephews; close friend, Sylvia Layfield (Levin) of Delmar.Rose was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Carl, John, Edward, Mary, Agnes, Alfred, Phillip, Arthur, and Leo Meilhammer.A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Short Funeral Home, 13 East Grove Street in Delmar, DE. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service. Pastor Bruce Glisson will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron.Flowers are acceptable and appreciated.Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home in Delmar.
