Rosabelle Chavez, 68, a longtime resident of San Miguel and San Juan, N.M., passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2014, in Pecos.She was born on May 17, 1945 in Ribera to the late Secundino Lopez and Predicanda Ortega-Lopez.Rosabelle was a kind, gentle loving and generous mother with an enormous heart. She always put others first. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also had a soft spot for animals.Rosabelle was a devoted daughter-in-law who took care of her mother- and father-in-law. Rosabelle was a devoted Catholic who was a dedicated member of the San Miguel del Vado Parish.She was a wonderful cook, Rosabelle wanted to give a special thanks to Antonio Nicasio Chavez, Jr., for all of his help throughout the years.She was preceded in death by her parents, Secundino and Predicanda Lopez; brothers, Adelaido Lopez, Pablo Lopez, Salomon Lopez and Salvador Lopez.She is survived by her former husband, Antonio Chavez Jr. of San Juan; daughter, Angel Chavez and "adopted daughter," Denise Gutierrez of Colorado Springs, Colo.; son, Antonio Chavez III and wife, Angie of Pecos; son, Jamie Chavez and wife, Joni of San Juan; son, Patricio Chavez of San Juan; grandchildren, Jacob, Catherine, Jamie, Jr., Jesus, Jalyn, Jeremy, Brian and Antonio IV; great-grandchildren, Haeleigh, Chrystah and Aliah; brother, Joseph Michael Lopez and wife, Gloria of Albuquerque; sisters, Frances Gallegos and husband, Joe of Las Animas, Colo., Imelda Gallegos and husband, Rudy of Santa Fe; aunt, Magdalena Ortega of Las Vegas; close friends, Roberta Arguello of Santa Fe, Judy Garcia of Chimayo; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.Rosary services will be held at 7 p.m. today (Friday) at San Miguel Del Vado Church in San Miguel with a second Rosary to be held at 10 a.m. Saturday also at San Miguel Del Vado Church. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at San Miguel Vado Church with Father Ronald Stone as celebrant. Interment will follow at San Juan Cemetery in San Juan with the following serving as casket bearers: Jamie Chavez Jr., Jacob Gonzales, Alfred Grossetete, Elias Montaño, Elfie Chavez and Michael Chavez Jr. Serving as Honorary Bearer will be Antonio Chavez III.Visit Rogers Mortuary's website at
