Joyce, Ronald Lorimer Mar. 9, 1933 - Oct. 19, 2015 Ronald Lorimer Joyce, 82, of Sarasota, FL, passed away on Oct. 19, 2015 at Doctors Hospital with family by his side. He will always be remembered as a man of integrity with a kind & generous heart. Ron was respected and admired for not just his life-long accomplishments and work ethic, but for doing the right thing and being true to his word. Although he had a powerful presence, he was a humble man with an easy smile and quick wit. These are just some of the qualities that made him such an extraordinary man. Ron was born on March 9, 1933 to George and Bertha (Taylor) Joyce in Lake Butler, FL. He graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in Jacksonville, FL and attended Florida College in Tampa, FL. In 1956, he graduated with a BS Degree in Business from David Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN. He then went on to receive a Master's Degree from George Peabody College for Teachers at
Vanderbilt University in 1957. Ron returned to Florida College to teach from 1957-59. In 1959, he accepted a position with Continental Can Company and worked there for 10 years at their Tampa and Auburndale manufacturing facilities. He then began a 31-year career with Hynautic, Inc. in Sarasota in 1969, and served as their General Manager for most of that time. He retired from Hynautic, Inc. in 2000. Beginning in 1954, Ron also served as a substitute minister for the Church of Christ and continued to do so for nearly 25 years. As a young man, he enjoyed playing sports and was on the baseball & golf teams at David Lipscomb. He continued to be an avid golfer well into his late 60's. Ron is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, JoAn; beloved children, Lori Joyce and Richard Joyce; and grandson, Justin Conover. He is also survived by many devoted nieces, nephews, and other family members. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend to many. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2015, at 11:30am at South Trail Church of Christ, 5601 South Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, with Terry Chapman officiating. Following will be a celebration of his life in the Fellowship Hall at the church.
