Ronald J. SchaeferSeymour, TNRonald J. Schaefer, 87, of Seymour, TN, died on Saturday, April 15, 2017, at his home. He was born on July 3, 1929 in Barrington, Illinois and was the son of J. Wesley and Nellie (Breeding) Schaefer. He had been a resident of Elgin, Illinois most of his life and been employed by Continental Bank of Chicago, First National Bank of Elgin, Ace Hardware, and Toys R Us before retiring. Ron was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving in Germany during the Korean conflict. He had been a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, former member of the Elgin Jaycees and the Elgin Choral Union. Upon moving to Seymour in retirement, Ron became a faithful member of Church Street United Methodist Church in Knoxville in 1999, where he joyously served in numerous volunteer capacities, including membership in the Pathfinders Sunday School Class.He is survived by his daughter, Susan Irby, of Seymour, TN; his son, John Schaefer, of Elgin, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marjorie, in 1995; a daughter, Karen; and a brother, Dean Schaefer.The burial took place on April 22nd, at the Bluff City Cemetery in the Chicago area. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the nave of Church Street UMC in Knoxville on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. with a Celebration Reception to follow in The Commons. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the CSUMC's Parish Adult Choir or Children's Choirs, P. O.
