Hock, Rometta Mary (Achenbach) died peacefully at the Catholic Care Center in Bel Aire, Kansas on July 17, 2016, at the age of 83. Rometta is survived by her husband of 54 years, Eugene A. Hock, and their children, Lisabeth Marie Hock (Mark Burde) of Pleasant Ridge, MI, Anthony Eugene (Tony) Hock (Jacqueline) of Derby, KS, Kathryn Mary Heflin (Richard) of Olathe, KS, Christopher James Hock (Deirdre) of Kansas City, KS, and Teresa Lynn Shulda (Daron) of Derby, KS; her sister Virgene Havlik of Menomonie, WI; 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Rometta is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Patrick Achenbach. Rometta was born on July 31, 1933, in Durand, WI to Edwin Achenbach and Johanna Faulkner Achenbach. She graduated from the College of St. Teresa and St. Mary's School of Nursing in 1955 and practiced pediatric nursing until 1967. Rometta then entered into the field of nursing education with a Master's Degree in Nursing and taught at Galveston Community College in Texas; St. Mary of the Plains College in Wichita, KS; and the University of Alabama in Huntsville. She was a certified Natural Family Planning instructor, and she was actively involved in liturgical planning and religious education. Rosary is at 9:00 A.M., Funeral Mass to follow at 9:30 A.M., Friday, July 22, 2016, at St. Elizabeth Chapel on the Catholic Care Center Campus in Bel Aire, KS. Father Andrew Kuykendall and Father Patrick Malone will con-celebrate the funeral liturgy. Internment at Ascension Cemetery will follow.
