Roland Romero, 46, a lifelong resident of Las Vegas, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014, at his home.He was born on Dec. 29, 1967, in Rocky Ford, Colo., to Emilio Romero and Lorine Gallegos Romero.Roland was a kind, loving, friendly, caring and thoughtful person. He was always helping everyone before himself. He loved all his family and was loved by many. Roland enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his maternal great-grandfather and padrino, Jose Domingo Maestas; paternal grandparents, Manuel A. and Frutosa Romero; maternal grandparents, Margarito and Precides M. Gallegos; uncles, Fulgencio Romero and Lolo Gallegos; aunts, Verona Romero and Viola Slankard; and brother-in-law, Mike Arguello.He is survived by his parents, Emilio and Lorine Romero of the family home; sister, Jacqueline Romero-Arguello; niece, Emile Arguello (Ezra), all of Las Vegas; companion, Julie Saiz of Las Vegas; sons, Roland Romero, Jr. of Las Vegas, Kevin Jose Romero, and Lolo Roland Romero, both of Albuquerque; daughter, Rholanda Romero of Las Vegas; grandchildren, Jazzmyn A. Enriquez, Ellena P. Romero, Preston Romero, Kevin Romero Jr., Angelina Romero, Kaylee Romero, Kennedy Romero, and Casey Duran, Jr.; aunt, Elisa Gallegos (Victor) of Albuquerque; uncle, Adelino Gallegos (Linda) of Maes; and numerous cousins and many friends.Rosary services will be held at 7 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas, with funeral services to be held at 9 a.m. Thursday at OLOS with Father George V. Salazar as celebrant. Interment will follow at the Gallegos Family Cemetery in Maes with the following serving as casket bearers: Roland Romero Jr., Kevin Romero, Lolo Romero, Vidal Quintana, Eddie Quintana and Ron Rivera.
