ROGER SMITH

LIMA — Roger L. Smith, 73, died at 4:44 AM on Saturday, November 5, 2016, at St. Rita's Medical Center, in Lima, Ohio.

Roger was born on June 22, 1943, in Lima, Ohio, to the late Roger J. Smith and Helen (Bicknell) Smith.

Roger married Darlene Williams on March 8, 1964. She survives in Lima. He worked in construction with the Local 329 Union. He liked to work on houses, cars and was an all around handy man. He was a wonderful husband, father and a joker who knew how to make people laugh.

He is survived by his son, Robert Lee Smith and two daughters, Deborah Smith and Mary Elizabeth (Michael) Neely; ten grandchildren , twenty great grandchildren; and a brother, Robert Eugene Hadding.

He was preceded in death by two sons, mother, Helen Smith, and father, Roger Smith.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, November 7, 2016 and from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio.

A funeral service will begin at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at The Ark of the Covenant. Pastor Arnold Wright and Pastor Ed Wireman will officiate. Interment will be in Ward Cemetery.
