Roger Kent Doerr, 66, of Yuma, went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 6, 2013 at Yuma Regional Medical Center. Roger was born on February 9, 1947 in Hays, Kansas to Herbert and Freda Doerr. He was the husband of the love of his life, Pam Doerr, for 44 years.He is also survived by his son, Shawn Doerr of Yuma; daughters and sons-in-law Shannon & Federico Savinon of Point Loma, CA; Amber & Joe Preciado of Yuma; sister and brother-in-law Brenda and Ron Stephens of Yuma; grandchildren: Kiley Doerr, Kodi Doerr, Mikey Doerr, Martin Meza and Kash Preciado all of Yuma; and numerous nieces, nephews and his walking partner, Sadie. Roger was preceded in death by his parents Herbert & Freda Doerr and his brother Dennis Doerr.Roger had been a Boy Scout and Eagle Scout, and he played baseball with Crane Country Boys and Babe Ruth League. He was a graduate ofYuma High School class of 1965, where he was a wrestler and a gymnast. He attended Arizona Western College, participating in wrestling. Roger had also been a surveyor with Don Peterson Engineers, a dispatcher and a Sales & Service Supervisor with Tanner Co., Director of Irrigation Management Systems at Yuma Mesa Irrigation District and worked in the Maintenance Department, from which he recently retired. Roger loved watching and talking to his son and grandsons about wrestling. He also enjoyed golfing with his many golfing partners and going to Men's Camp at Prescott Pines. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He took life one day at a time, dealing with each trial as a bump in the road to enrich his life and those around him. He taught others by example, treating them the way he wanted to be treated. He was active at Valley Baptist Church for 30 years, serving as a Deacon, a Sunday school teacher, involved in Men's Fellowship, Awana and Vacation Bible School.A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 16th at Valley Baptist Church with the Reverend Glenn Connell officiating.
