Lafayette - A 1:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2019, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, for Robert Wayne Higginbotham, 71, who passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 14, 2019, in Lafayette, Louisiana, surrounded by his children, grandchildren and family.

Entombment will be held at Sts. Peter & Paul Mausoleum in Scott.

Father Gary Schexnayder, retired, will celebrate the funeral Mass and conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be his daughters Stephanie Higginbotham and Michelle Wilson. His grandchildren Hannah Broussard, Katherine Higginbotham, Ava Wilson, Jillian LeBlanc and Grant LeBlanc will serve as Gift Bearers. Musical selections for the services will be, "Notre Pere", "Amazing Grace", "Coeur de Jesu", "I Can Only Imagine" and "Make Me A Channel of your Peace".

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Doris Ann Higginbotham; his parents, Azema and Nameze Higginbotham; one brother, Jerry Higginbotham; and one nephew, Ken Higginbotham.

Pallbearers will be his son and sons-in-law, Ross Higginbotham, Jason Wilson and Robert LeBlanc; his godsons Richard Higginbotham and Billy Ray Higginbotham and his nephew Jacob Eiteman. Honorary pallbearers will be his brother Larry Higginbotham; cousin Dwayne Martin; nephew Billy Hayden; longtime friends Willie Baronet, Jimmy Gore, and Brian Comeaux; cousin John Jefcoat, Sr. and Hollis Firmin and Austin Stanton.

A Rosary will be recited by Gene's cousins, Fr. Rene Pellessier and Fr. Stephen Pellessier on Monday, September 16, at 6:00 p.m. in Martin and Castille's SCOTT Location.

The family requests that visitation be observed on Monday, September 16, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, September 17, from 8:00 a.m. until the time of services.
