RACINE - Robert William Weber died in his sleep at 6:15 a.m. on December 21, 2014 at Wheaton Franciscan Hospital at the age of 92. He died peacefully and on his own terms. As far as we can tell, his last cogent words were to a nurse who asked him if he was comfortable. He replied, Im able to make a living. Those who knew him remember a man who could captivate a room full of people with his wit and charm. It was important to him to keep people laughing. He chose to be cremated because he didnt want to give his enemies the opportunity to dig him up and parade him around town. He also chose not to have a funeral because he didnt like fanfare and he didnt want to force people to stand around sadly saying what a nice guy he was, knowing that some of them didnt mean it. He leaves behind two sons, Robert and William and a daughter, Bethany (David) Nichols; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. His loving wife Pearl preceded him in death in 1999. Also in mourning are his companion, Betsie Hosick and many friends from Crystal Lake in Frankfort, Michigan. Robert was born on February 21, 1922 in Etna, Pennsylvania, the crossroads of America. He enlisted in the Army after high school and was stationed in Illinois where he proudly proclaimed that he successfully defended the Mississippi River from the Japanese attack. He was able to convince Pearl Koran to marry him by lying about his young age. He then graduated from the University of Illinois and then the University of Wisconsin Law School. He was a lawyer in Racine (Pearls hometown) for approximately 55 years, most of those years he was proud of and thoroughly enjoyed. He travelled well all over the world. He wrote a book and wants you to know it can still be ordered, just call. He read the original works of the Founding fathers and the Greek philosophers. Up until his last days, he read and wrote about rhetoric because he was fascinated by how well educated the Founding fathers were and the influence the Greek philosophers had on their political views. He was a loving and magnanimous husband, companion, father, grandfather and friend who will be missed by many. Memorials to First Presbyterian Church would be appreciated.
