Robert Thomas TaylorDecember 14th, 1947-December 9th,2015 Robert Thomas Taylor, known to many family and friends as "RT" entered into eternal peace on Wednesday, December 9, 2015. He passed away peacefully at home after fearlessly battling pancreatic cancer for the past twenty nine months. Robert was born on December 14, 1947 in Yuma, Arizona to Homer and Beatrice Taylor. He lived in the Somerton area until his family moved to Wellton-Mohawk community when he was a sophmore in high school. He leaves his loving memories to be cherished by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 47 years, Sharon Taylor, Roll, Arizona their two son's Brian (Rhona) Taylor of Palmer, Alaska and Garrett (Tammy) Taylor of Wellton, Arizona. Robert will be fondly remembered by his six grandchildren, Miranda, Kyle, Robert, Tripp, Carson and Bree. His loving brother Gene (Wilma) Taylor of Roll, Arizona, and so many more family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Homer and Beatrice Taylor. Robert proudly served our nation in the U.S.
Army from January 8, 1968 to January 11, 1970 and earned the rank of Sergeant as a Radar Technician at Ft. Bliss, Texas. He worked for McElhaneys Cattle Company for a few years in the breeding program of Charolais cattle after getting out of the Army. For the last 45 plus years Robert was employed at the Yuma County Public Works, working his way up to the position of Project Manager. He recently became a member of the B.P.O. ELKS, Yuma Lodge No. 476. A celebration of Robert's life will be held Monday, December 14, 2015 at 1 p.m. at the First Southern Baptist Church of Wellton, 11711 William St, Wellton, AZ. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made to one of Robert's favorite organizations the Tacna Fire Department PO Box 8, Tacna, AZ 85352 or to any other local charity in his name.
