ROBERT "BOB" NICHOLSMay 12, 1927 - December 11, 1916Bob Nichols,89, of Emmett, passed away in Faith on December 11, 2016, at Apple Valley Assisted Living. He was born on May 12, 1927, in Smith Center, Kansas. He moved to Emmett with his parents in 1936 and graduated from Emmet High School in 1945. He was drafted into the Army Air Force, and in 1946 participated in the first atomic bomb test while stationed on Eniwetok in the Marshall Islands.Following his discharge from the service, he was employed by Boise Cascade for 43 years as a quality control inspector in the laminated beam, decking, and finger joint operation. He married his wife, Carmen, in 1959. Bob was an elder and deacon at the Emmett Christian Church. For nine years, he sang and played his guitar on radio's KMFE Barn Dance in Emmett. Additionally he entertained at a variety of community venues. His greatest passions were his family and his love of music. He always enjoyed traveling with his wife, and their favorite destination was the Oregon Coast. He was preceded in death by his parents, Burl and Osa Nichols, a brother, Roger, and two sisters, Wanda Nichols and Wilma Hogge. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carmen, of Emmett; a sister, Sharon (John) Rogers of Emmett, a daughter, Carlene (Randy) Snyder, of Boise; two grandchildren, Jake (Valerie) Snyder of Meridian, and Tonya (Corey) Arnold of Warren, Oregon; three great grandchildren, Lilly, Boen, and Jada Arnold; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial Services will be held on Friday, December 16, 2016, at 2:00 PM at the Potter Chapel in Emmett.
