Maahs, Robert L.Robert Leland Maahs, age 97, of Fence, WI formerly of Green Bay, WI passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2016. Robert was born on April 18, 1919 in Wittenberg,WI the son of Charles and Anna (Siebert) Maahs. At the age of 18, he moved to Laona, WI to work at Connors Mill. He met Viola Sonnentag in Laona and they married on October 21, 1939. They celebrated their 77th anniversary this past October.In 1942, they moved to Green Bay where Robert worked for Olson Transportation, retiring in 1974. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Oneonta Lake home in Fence, WI where they had many happy years. Robert is survived by his wife of 77 years, Viola (Sonnentag) Maahs; sons, Robert (Cindy) Maahs, Jr., of Green Bay; David (Margaret) Maahs of Gordon, WI; ten grandchildren, and twenty-one great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Judith Camomile, in 2013.Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2016 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church, Armstrong Creek, WI. Funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. with Deacon Jerry Cross officiating. Interment will be at the Glenwood Cemetery in Goodman, WI.
