Robert "Bob" Culver KillebrewJuly 3, 1933 - October 15, 2014Robert "Bob" Culver Killebrew died peacefully on October 15, 2014 in a local care facility, at the age of 81. During his illness Bob remained strong and kept his sense of humor for his family and caregivers. Bob is survived by his wife, Georgia; children, Cheryl (David) Smitherman, Colorado Springs, Colorado; Diane Holt, Boise, Idaho, and Karen (Kurt) Frisch, Boise, Idaho; grandchildren, David (Rachael) Smitherman, Angela (Rene) Prietro, Kendall Smitherman, Lauren Smitherman, Mollie Frisch, Bobby Holt, Meagan Frisch; great grandchildren, Katie Holt and Lucy Smitherman. He was preceded in death by his parents Harmon Clayton Sr. and Katherine Pearl Killebrew, his siblings Eugene Killebrew, Eula (Killebrew) Cheese, and Harmon Killebrew. Bob was born on July 3, 1933 in Payette, Idaho to Harmon "Clay" Killebrew Sr. and Katherine Pearl (May) Killebrew. He graduated from Payette High School in the spring of 1951. Bob received a football scholarship from The College of Idaho upon completion from high school, that fall he played football for the C of I, the next semester he attended San Jose State, in California. Bob was drafted in 1953 and completed his basic training at Camp Roberts, CA. He spent sixteen months in Korea and was honorably discharged from the United States Army in 1955. Upon his return from Korea he attended the C of I for another year, where he met his future wife Georgia. Bob and Georgia were married on December 27, 1956. Bob attended the Vo-tech Printing School in Spokane, Washington in the fall of 1956. After two years he graduated with an Associate Degree in Printing. After completing school he worked for the newspaper in Clarkston, Washington, before returning to Idaho to work at the newspaper in Weiser, Idaho. A job offer with Caxton's Printers, Ltd. settled him and his family in Caldwell where he worked for twenty six years of his career, before retiring in 1994. Bob and Georgia welcomed and raised three daughters to their home during their 57 years of marriage. Bob's children remember him as a kind and gentle father with a great sense of humor who encouraged them to pursue their goals. Upon retiring Bob enjoyed golf and traveling with his wife and visiting his children and grandchildren. He also had the opportunity to travel with his brother Harmon around the world for various baseball events and attended many celebrity golf tournaments. Bob also enjoyed many hours searching for and refurbishing his antique wood plane collection. The funeral is scheduled for Tuesday October 21, 2014 at 1:00 pm. at Flahiff Funeral Chapel, 624 Cleveland Blvd. Caldwell, Idaho. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the or The Pet Haven in Nampa, Idaho. A private family burial will take place at the Payette Riverside Cemetery in Payette, Idaho. The family would like to thank Encompass Hospice and Trinity Mission Midland Care Center caregivers for the special care Bob received during the final days of his life.
