WILKES-BARRE — Robert D. Thomas, 82, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 24, 2016, at his home.
He was born on June 14, 1934, in Wilkes-Barre, a son of the late Robert and Pearl (Stoffel) Thomas. Bob was a graduate of Meyers High School, class of 1952. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving from 1956 to 1958.
Bob was employed for 35 years as a plumber for C.W. Schultz Plumbing and Heating and he was later employed at the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Plains Township.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Dolores 'Dee' Cislak Thomas, on Dec. 19, 2015.
Surviving are his children, Robert D. Thomas, of Wilkes-Barre, Barbara Sam and her husband, Mose, of Mystic, Conn., and Lisa Barth and her husband, Scott, of Wilkes-Barre; grandchildren, Jennifer Zeller, Robert Thomas, Lauren Wustman, Alison Sam and Kate Barth; great-grandchildren, Olivia and Joshua Thomas, John and Avery Wustman; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday morning from the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre. The Rev. Carol E. Coleman, pastor of the Luzerne United Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
